Waters Corporation and Picometrics S.A. to co-market Waters ACQUITY UPLC™ System with Picometrics Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) detectors
(Orlando, Fl., March 13, 2006)

Orlando, Fla., March 13, 2006 – Waters Corporation and Picometrics S.A. today announced a nonexclusive agreement to co-market Waters award-winning ACQUITY UPLC™ System with Picometrics Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) detectors. Researchers in the biological sciences now have a highly sensitive and specific detection solution for UPLC™ separations to detect trace levels of biological compounds with suitable fluorescence properties such as proteins, peptides and DNA adducts.

“Scientists in R&D and QA/QC laboratories can now harness the benefits of UPLC separations technology to analyze challenging compounds that require the sensitivity and selectivity of fluorescence detection where volume is small and concentration is low,” said Mary Ellen Goffredo, Director of Product Marketing at Waters Corporation. “Picometrics LIF detectors complement Waters® ACQUITY UPLC detector family that includes Photodiode Array, Evaporative Light Scattering and Tunable UV leveraging the resolution, speed, and sensitivity capabilities of ACQUITY UPLC holistic system solutions,” she added.

“The union of these two extremely powerful technologies provides users in pharmaceutical, biotech and food companies, research institutes and government agencies with one of the most sensitive and selective analytical techniques for the biological sciences,” stated Pierre Naccache, Picometrics Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

UPLC technology from Waters Corporation was first introduced at Pittcon 2004. Based on sub 2-micron particle liquid chromatography, the ACQUITY UPLC System achieves narrower and sharper peaks, higher signal-to-noise ratios, and greater peak capacity and shorter run times than conventional HPLC thus bringing laboratories new levels of efficiency and productivity.

About Picometrics
